Well versed experience on lcd working. Addition of LCD backlight feature would be good option as well.

Interfacing with the LCD Display and DIP switches was part of few of my past projects, so this should really be a piece of cake to make. I see that you haven't specified the micro-controller to be used, I can interface using Arduino and 8051. I can give the the code and simulation file of the same code so that you would also know that you can verify that the program is working right even before you work it out on the hardware.
