I just finished writing a book with a working title: "Technology Stories" - "Filling the Gaps for the Average Developer". This is an e-book destined for the Amazon Kindle, which discusses 150 key lessons in total from the course of my 10 jobs as a Computer Programmer in Toronto, since 2005.
It's 100 pages long (including some blank pages, table of contents, popular quotes, etc) and contains:
1. Stories of what happened to me.
2. The universal lessons I learned.
3. Mistakes I made.
4. My general advice on how to succeed as a Software Developer.
5. Inside information of the industry and what happens inside companies and businesses.
Each of the 15 chapters also contains a summarized list of just the key points at the end. So readers will be able to also skip straight to the summarized points, if their time is short.
Each chapter is divided in titled sections. Each section has a "Key Lesson" that it illustrates. So the book is very "to-the-point" and focuses on efficiency, rather than eloquent storytelling.
I need an experienced business writer, who has previously written and edited several business books. I need them to help me with constructive, material improvements to the book. I am not interested as much about writing style, grammar, spelling, and word choices. I am more interested in larger themes, such as:
How can I intrigue the reader to make them keep reading?
How can I keep the attention of the reader?
How can I strengthen my points in my stories?
What could I add, and what could I remove?
(Maybe too much information in some places, and not enough in others...)
How can I make paragraphs and ideas feel more connected?
I also prefer that you use the "Track Changes" option in the Google Doc that I'm using, so that I could see exactly what has been changed and suggested (using the Comment feature).
I have attached a short, 2 page sample from the book, to give you an idea of how a chapter is structured.
