I am looking for a bullet-point list (with simple, concise explanations) of talking points for a speech explaining how to “keep your passion alive” to quilters. 1,000 words. No filler language. Just the research in a bullet-point format. My audience is bright, creative people with limited business knowledge. They would like to offer their finished quilts, new patterns and teaching skills for sale. But, they don't understand anything about how to stay passionate about quilting as it becomes a business. Here are some of their questions: I am passionate about quilting . How does one incorporate making a profit by making and selling quilts without it becoming a "job", which would greatly diminish my spontaneity and joy of the process???rnI need to earn money but I don't want this to become a chore. When you turn your quilting passion into a business, do you lose the self satifaction of making a beautiful piece of "art" So many times a hobby/business makes the original hobby not so much fun anymore. How do you keep your "passion" for quilting alive when you start to do it for profit? Usually a hobby/business loses the "fun" of creating beautiful items. Too much is put on the bottom line. I think one of my biggest question I have about quilting is gaining confidence in my work. When is the moment that you can say "yes, I'm a quilter." When I quilt, I put my heart and soul into the work. Can you put a price on that? A little bit of me really does go into each quilt. You can feel this from an "experienced quilter". I totally get the title of Quilting for Love----but I would question the word MONEY or even Profit? I quilt both for fun and for money. When I quilt for fun I feel free to decide on colors, patterns, sizes, everything. When I make a quilt to sell, I always have the doubt if it will sell. I try to make quilts first at my own choice, and later sell them, rather than taking consigned jobs. Several questions comes to mind;rnrnHow to decide the price of a quilted piece? How to calculate how much to charge for a consigned quilt? How to keep track of trends like colors, themes, e How to create a product and keep it fresh so you don't get bored, but develop enough efficiency to price your work so it's accessible to a large audience?rnHow to develop a customer base?
