organizing a large number of historical photos

Hi there, You certainly can use Excel for this sort of task. MS Access is a better database for searching large amounts of data and linking but if you don't have that software then Excel will do just fine. Hi, What exactly do you mean by cross-referencing in this context? It all really depends on what information you want to store about each photograph. If you just want a sheet that contains the file name, a photograph date, and the actual filename or something, then you can do that of course in Excel. But I guess the question is - how will you be using this data? It's difficult to recommend the right solution if the problem isn't well formulated. Could you give me more information about what you would like to do with the data? Thanks a lot, John

Definitely not excel if you need to keep the file in safe without risks of deleting or editing it by mistake.
