FACILITIES INSPECTOR

Summary You will serve as a FACILITIES INSPECTOR in the Installation Facilities of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO. This announcement uses direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities: -You will apply thorough knowledge of interior and exterior construction trades to ensure work is performed in accordance to existing codes and regulations. -You will inspect HTW boilers and chillers of various sizes and inspects carpentry, masonry, metal work and painting for proper condition and maintenance. -You will inspects HTW and chilled water distribution systems for leaks and defects, to include auxiliary components such as pumps, water heaters, condensers and cooling towers. -You will inspects fences, playgrounds landscapes plantings, pavement work and, back-flow preventers, transformers underground storage tanks, fired /un-fired pressure vessels, oil-water separators, hoist, buildings structures, and roads and grounds. -You will provides rough labor and material cost estimates such for repair or replacement of Base facilities. -You will provide written inspection reports indicating condition and makes recommendations for repair or replacement and input into programs systems such as Builder and Paver. -You will assist with maintaining and updating equipment and facility listings in the MAXIMO asset managemen database. Travel Required: Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. Job family (Series) 4701 Miscellaneous General Maintenance and Operations Work Requirements: -Conditions of Employment -Must be a US Citizen. -Must be determined suitable for federal employment. -Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. -Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. -Must posses a current Virginia Drivers License and attend the required governemtn Motor Vehicle Operators training. -Will occasionally handle equipment weighing 25 to 50 pounds. -You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. -You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. -This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. -This position is considered Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. Qualifications: Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
