Application (Java/Liferay) runs on a single EC2 instance. Static content is stored on S3 and rendered through Cloudfront. Database is hosted on Amazon RDS instance. 4. Demo is for demo'ing the client Business application to prospective customers. Application (Java/Liferay) runs on a single EC2 instance. Static content is stored on S3 and rendered through Cloudfront. Database is hosted on Amazon RDS instance. 5. Production hosts the client Business application. Application (Java/Liferay) runs on 2 EC2 instances with load balancing achieved through ELB. Static content is stored on S3 and rendered through Cloudfront. Database is hosted on Muti-AZ Amazon RDS instance. 6. Disaster Recovery Environment is exactly similar to Production environment. When production is down due to any reasons, DR takes over. DR environment points to the same Production RDS.
