**
My job with Type3, a web agency, has been a variety of development work. As well as doing website development using C#, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 and JavaScript, I have worked on video compression for web delivery using a variety of methods. I took ownership of projects to make sure that work was done to a high standard and within tight deadlines.
* Wrote JavaScript to upgrade their existing content management system with more user-friendly functionality. The improvements allow the CMS users to more easily change the structure of individual pages and websites using drag-and-drop.
* Made changes to the intranet site of a large logistics company, including upgrading the CMS
* Wrote the back-end of the website [login to view URL], which accepts images and videos from users, compresses/resizes them, and allows them to be moderated. I used C# with Microsoft .NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005. This work also involved writing XML web services for use by a Flash client.
* Did research about how videos can be edited using open-source software AVISynth for use with an online video editing tool
* Assisted other employees with JavaScript, both in implementing improvements for websites and discussing what improvements can be made
* Worked on server side code for a wide range of websites, using C# with Microsoft .NET 2.0 and either Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 depending on the server the website was deployed on
* Improved the code-base that is used by Type3 for dynamic websites by making use of .NET Generics. This lowers deployment time for websites as it reduces the amount of code that needs to be written to deal with collections of objects.
* Wrote an XML editor in JavaScript to enable easier content management for multi-language websites
* Wrote a .NET Windows Forms application for in-house use that generates T-SQL Stored Procedures and C# code for data access from the T-SQL database schema, thereby speeding up project development
**Apr 2005 - June 2007 Mainstone Consultancy Services**
Mainstone Consultancy Services provide IT and business solutions to a number of commercial clients. I have been involved in collating business requirements to ensure the most viable technical solution is selected. My work has also included meeting clients so they fully understand the specifications for IT systems, and in the implementation of such systems.
* Built the company website to specified requirements
* Developed a content management system with AJAX, using ASP.NET 2.0 with C# as the back-end XML server, connected to a MS SQL Server 2005 database, making use of the XML capabilities of SQL Server 2005
* Wrote code which is applicable to a large variety of online services. As well as functionality for user-editable content, worked on an online file system with user-friendly drag-and drop capability with files indexed in a SQL Server 2005 database for efficient searching. This used ASP.NET with C# to process SOAP requests.
* Configured a Windows Server 2003 server to host both the company’s website and other websites
* Created Business Requirement Document for a number of projects
* Designed and developed a recruitment website using PHP and MySQL

**Jul 2004 - May 2005 STEP Placement: IT Administrator, Bulldog Engineering Recruitment**
Bulldog engineering recruitment specialise in the engineering market. This position started with the Shell Technology Enterprise Program (STEP), however when the placement came to an end I was asked if they could continue to use my services part time in university term time and full time in the holidays. My role was to maintain and improve their current IT systems, working within a small-office environment.
* Maintained and added enhancements to the database system, Microsoft Access 2000 with VBA, as a front-end to the Microsoft SQL Server 7 database
* Wrote a tool to run database backups in Visual [login to view URL] 2003, using Windows Forms
* Suggested future strategies for the company’s IT systems
* Computer upgrades from Windows 98 to Windows XP
* Fixed VBA bugs in the Access database to make the upgrade to Windows XP possible
* Upgraded servers with Windows NT4 giving them better backup facilities
* Configured Windows NT4 to be the Domain Controller and SQL 7 database server
* Periodic updates and improvements to the company website
**Apr 2000 – Jun 2002 Consultant Support Technician, JNA Consulting**
JNA Consulting provides IT consultancy to public and private companies. JNA employed me to provide IT solutions to schools and assist them in the day to day running of their office IT systems. Prior to me working full time in 2002 I did some consultancy work for them on an ad-hoc basis.
* Configured 802.11b wireless networks at schools across the UK
* Assisted with running the office IT infrastructure
* Maintained standard PCs as well as Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server servers
* Maintained the hardware firewalls, routers and the 802.11b wireless base station
* Offered technical support in the requirements gathering workshops to schools who were having their IT upgraded
* Programmed an application to query a Microsoft Access database using Microsoft Visual Basic 6
* Software Installation on both company laptops and laptops for use by teachers
* Technical support throughout their office move

**Programming**
* Highly proficient at programming the following Microsoft programming languages: C#, Visual [login to view URL] and the .NET framework, version 2.0. I also have years of experience using Visual Basic 5, 6 and VBA, and with versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the .NET framework.
