This code do the following: if you supply a two column spectral data ( first column is wavenumber, second column is absorbance) dat, and initial peak parameters par0, it gives you optimised voigt line shape parameters parmin, and the fit and fitting quality information. $A set of functions has been developed in MATLAB to retrieve refractive indices from aerosol particle extinction spectra with the classical damped harmonic oscillator model. The aerosols are assumed to be spherical so that Mie theory can be applied to calculate the extinction efficiency and its derivatives. The particle size distribution is lognormal but can be easily adapted to other forms of distributions. The retrieved parameters are the particle distribution mean radius rm, the standard deviation σ, the dielectric constants at high frequency (ε_∞ ) ̇, and the classical damped harmonic oscillator band parameters, from which the refractive indices can be calculated. As a test, we extract the refractive indices of water ice and the particle size distributions from an extinction spectrum in the mid infrared region.$

I carried out research to generate particles that important to atmospheric and extraterrestrial aerosols and particles . The techniques involve using champers to control temperature, pressure, and concentration of the species, and follow the evolution of them using FTIR spectroscopy. I wrote Python and Matlab codes to streamline the analysis of theses data and visualize them. I also wrote codes to analyse the particles light scattering behavior and particle size distribution effect on it.
