Port single PHP file to Javascript

I have a single roughly 1,000 line php script (attached to this posting) which needs to be ported to javascript. The current script reads a file path via command line, reads the file and formats it via the php script. The ported javascript file needs to do the same, except it does not need to read from the file system. It must simply accept a string and output the formatted result. The PHP script is class based - I do not care if the javascript file is or not. I must be able to feed the javascript and php script the same file and get the same result out from both.
