I need an Excel user defined function that pulls in data from the Wordpress Stats API ([login to view URL]) and displays it in Excel. The input variables should be the user's api_key, blog_uri & period, which can be defined in a cell on the spreadsheet. The user should be able to enter multiple blog_uri's and display stats for all blogs over the available date range. The data should be visible by day, week or month, depending on the variable selected for "period". I'm not sure if there's a way to do this, but if it is possible to pull all blog_uri's associated with a user without having to enter them as values, that should also be an option.
Authentication is required. The tool should authenticate to a mySQL database in order to work. In other words, someone shouldn't just be able open up the excel doc, manipulate it and get it to work without an OK from my database.
Hi, I am Wordpress expert. I can code such statistics plugin with your described features. Please check my feedbacks in profile. For more details about my experience please check my private message. Thanks, Dmitry.
Hello Mb27
I am an Excel VBA expert with extensive experience using XMLHTTP to access various APIs, extract data and post-process/reformat. Recent projects that I've undertaken include work with the PayEx API and the WorkingPoint API.
It is difficult to secure any kind of project in Excel. Even with the authentication against a MySql db that you propose, someone could just change the connection info to point to their own DB and supply their own username and password. Using a password on the VBA project is incredibly easy to crack and how-tos for that are readily available through Google. I would be happy to implement any security scheme you propose, though.
I am available to start on this project immediately.
Best regards
Brent
