zen-Cart Paypal checkout express problem

Problem with our website when using Paypal Checkout Express button. "Order summary" in the paypal page comes up blank, no items listed that were in shopping cart. Issue is resolved when using a new install of zen-cart without any customization so we know paypal account is setup right. Problem fix must not break current custom programming which will be described once job is accepted. Screenshot of issue is attached.
