An overview and instructions on how to assess the scope of work are provided here. Our application is written in c++ using MS VStudio 2008. **1. Overview** We have a software product that displays data in a tree. The tree consists of a hierarchy of network, devices, objects and object properties. The tree is built by capturing field data. It can be saved to disk file, cleared and loaded from file. The purpose of this project is to add user functionality to sort, filter, expand, collapse the displayed data and to allow searches, user bookmarks …. You will be provided the framework of the application with its ability to read field data disabled. We will also provide you several tree samples and can generate new ones for your testing purposes. Thus you will be able to work on the gui part of the application without affecting any of the logic that communicates with the field devices. The displayed tree is based on an internal tree which is used by the engine that communicates with the field devices. You will not be able to change this internal tree and its relationships. You will be able to add new fields as you require them. You job will be to change the way the data in this internal tree is displayed. It is important to understand that the engine that communicates with the field devices uses the internal tree and the internal tree structure cannot change. **2.
