I am mobile app developer and embedded system electronics engineer with 3 years of experience in iot development and have made several iot mobile applications and communicated them with electronic devices. I have worked on home automation, beacon based indoor positioning system, smart parking system with real parking spots update on mobile app, etc. Another iot product I worked on was women saftety device, on which, if women press the button, her location is shared with her family members and it starts recording audio to a cloud server automatically, while at the same time it calls nearest police station automatically. I have worked with android TV boxes which a bit similar to your requirement except that they didn't have GPIO access. I was working with the low level part and the setup wizard of the device. Wifi access, ethernet access everything were accessed but not GPIO and USB. My charges might be a bit high because I'm working part time with limited time.
