The work is to transcribe 24,000 pages of early 20th century military registers into an Excel spreadsheet format. The 24,000 pages contain approximately 250,000 individual entries An entry is a record of a serviceman with 4-5 pieces of information The records contain place names in Punjab (modern day India and Pakistan) with the names of men. Familiarity with Punjabi village name construction, Punjabi names, castes and Indian military terminology is helpful. Every entry must be faithfully transcribed into Excel in a standard format. All notes must be included. Any additional textual content must be included. All transcription (including spelling variations etc must be included verbatim) A template spreadsheet will be provided by us
