Stock investment strategy blog - why buy & hold works best - the coffee can portfolio

There should be a picture of a coffee can – preferably one from the Gold Rush. The idea is that gold miners put their valuables in a coffee can, and placed it under the bed. They then COMMITTED to not sell their contract for the mine or land they owned until they found gold. The ones that kept their land lease in their pockets would often be at the bar at night, and being discouraged, they would trade the land lease for another gold mine. Then the next guy would strike gold the week after. The lesson learned: buy right, and hold on. Long holding periods ensures the best stock return. Our new fund will have long holding periods.
