1) Opportunity to be Trained as Registered Tax Agent A Registered Tax Agent with over 40 years experience, currently training a small number of qualified CAs and CPAs to acquire the 1,450 supervised training hours in securing registration with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) in Australia, is planning to provide training to some suitable candidates from non-accounting backgrounds so that upon completion, the trainees will be able to perform practical work in a bookkeeping and taxation practice. Presently, people without an accounting degree may also entitle to apply for registration with TPB if they have acquired a number of years of accounting and taxation work experience. 2) How Does It Work Basically, the course will consist of 20 training sessions, each of 1 to 2 hours’ duration, conducted at night via the internet through the Skype program, over a period of 30 days. Each training session will focus on some common topics confronting a practicing accountant, including hands-on experience on the actual application of the Hubdoc Program & the Xero Accounting Package, as well as ASIC items such as company incorporation, deregistration, reinstatement, creation and devesting of trusts, etc. Trainees can expect a considerable amount of class interactions. They are expected to work on actual case studies as a means of consolidating their knowledge. Consequently, the class size will have to be restricted to around 10 places. Therefore, people who already have accounting degrees will not be accepted. But preference will be given to applicants with ethnic non-accounting backgrounds and university students. 3) How Much Does It Cost Intending trainees are required to pay a nominal course fee of A$ 200, payable prior to course commencement, expected in around two weeks, in the middle of December 2021. 4) The Differences The trainer believes in the philosophy of training in a manner similar to teaching a baby how to speak. Instead of trying to explain to the baby the subtle differences and nuances between the different expressions, he focuses on the actual applications by encouraging the baby to use the expressions in actual life situations so that, over time, the subtleties and nuances of the different expressions will instill in the baby's mind. Therefore, trainees will not be taught in-depth about debits and credits or any legal niceties of how and why certain tax laws are being applied, because they will be immediately taken to some actual practical cases and shown how the situations are solved in a pragmatic day-to-day environment. 5) Prospects After Training Successful trainees will be given the opportunity to continue cooperation with the trainer under his established framework whereby the trainees will be able to start developing their own bookkeeping, accounting, and taxation practice IMMEDIATELY upon completion of the course. Obviously, they will require continued training and support from the trainer.
