Database Creation

actually the company is managing the following information using Microsoft Excel. The company need to know in a given time which is the best price for rent a car, rent a room, send employees to restaurant, buy sourvenirs or accesories for make an event, etc. When that happen an employee open an excel file that include hotels inforrmation, or car rentals informations, etc.... those excel files are updated by an employee too. The issue is that for some cases is difficult looks the best price or best option in some categories due information quantity. The solution that is looking for this project is a system in which the user enter and search by category, all the items, price(ascending, descending) or some attributes like color, size , etc that will be given when works begin. Also this solution must be easyly self administered for add/edit/unpublish/delete the information because each month the information is updated. Currently the company is building an intranet for employees access this information so we are not sure how will work better. 1) If organize excel files for contain all data ( that i suppose is not the solution because is many information) i ask for this because an employee may open the file throught the internet. 2) Make a database system or whatever that works as solution according explain above... Remember that must be easily add, edit , modify etc. In case 2 , plz explain if exist a solution for show the information and search modules in the intranet.....if will be needed to open a file or will appear a search module and the information willl be managed in a different platform. plz give us the best friendly option for this The intranet will be build with joomla cms. Currently exist abou 40 categories that work of that way, in which will needed to enter ---Name, price, description, contact(s), email(s), payment conditions, webpage, address. some attributes may changes depeding of category, for example Hotels... will exist some addiitinal attributes like room type, etc --- Is needed an option to upload a image to each item.
