I'm a CNC milling programmer, it's difficult to bid something like this without being able to see the size shape and intricacy of the finished part. Contact me with design specs and we can work out so fair, it all depends on how mainly tools are need to complete the part and how many set ups are needed as well. Tolerances are a factor also as well as how much surface contouring is needed. Also would need to know what type of mill you are working with and the type of wood you are using. The problem with milling wood on a CNC mill is that wood especially softer wood has a tendency to gum up the cutting tool and certain woods that are hard wood machining can be problematic depending on the direction of the wood grain. For instance ASH wood your strength of the wood comes from the grain edge so you would want to do any mill work on the face of the wood grain. I.e. Picture the grain of the wood as a deck of cards, the part of the wood that shows the rings of the groan in a kind of U shape would be the face of the grain, vs the edge of the grain would show the lines of the rings stacked on top of each other in a straight line or close to straight like if you were looking at a deck of cards stacked up from the side so you couldnt see the face. This is the complete opposite of other woods such as maple or hickory or birch, the strength of those come from the face so you would want to do any type of machining on the edge of the wood grain because of the hardness of the wood doing so on the face can cause it to chip and crack. Machining wood can be a challenge depending on what you're trying to make, if the only thing that you are trying to do is to pop some wholes thru it and maybe bevel an edge or cut a dive tail and you don't require a lot of surface contouring then milling it is not a bigg deal. Just keep in mind that because wood is fiberboard based pretty much any kind of milling or machining of a surface is going to require some bench time to sand depending on the type of finish you want to achieve. All wood gets splinters when being machines not always huge ones but there will always be areas that are fuzzy after machining that need to have a little sanding to smith out. I'm negotiable on price depending on what the project entails. I used to run a professional wood basball bat manufacturing company so I have a good understanding of machining properties of wood.
