Dear Coders,
I need a script to manipulate some texts/data based on CentOS / Linux server for management purposes.
So I need you to basically understand some basic linux management script like: top, iotop etc.
If you have done so and you are the man I needed, please go on and read the rest......................
====================================================
I had a script written in perl, that produced an output like this:
TASK PID TOTAL READ WRITE DIRTY DEVICES
firefox 4450 4538 251 4287 0 sda4, sda3
kjournald 2100 551 0 551 0 sda4
firefox 28452 185 185 0 0 sda4
kjournald 782 59 0 59 0 sda3
pdflush 31 30 0 30 0 sda4, sda3
syslogd 2485 2 0 2 0 sda3
firefox 28414 2 2 0 0 sda4, sda3
firefox 28413 1 1 0 0 sda4
firefox 28410 1 1 0 0 sda4
firefox 28307 1 1 0 0 sda4
firefox 28451 1 1 0 0 sda4
I need you to continue by creating another script to:
[1] run the perl script for 10 secs, then ctrl break (ctrl-c)
[2] catch the data from the output's perl (the same as example above), and focus on the colomns of TOTAL and WRITE
[3] from who the most of using the TOTAL or the WRITE, then find from PS command, what additional attributes is 'firefox' (firefox ppid 4450) using (i will guide you on this next: example: ps aux | grep 4451)
[4] then from /base on the data [3], execute another simple command (another script)
Thank you for you time and efforts stopping by here.
Hello,
You have a Perl script why not a second Perl script? Nevertheless, I have skills to create your admin script in either Perl or Bash shell. Details will be discussed in the PMB.
Hi,
I am a full-time developer of Perl and CGI, and I work with most platforms (Linux, Solaris and Windows) and would like to help with your task.
Please check PM.
Thanks,

I am a high experienced system manager. I am presently managing dozens of servers spread around the world. On each of them I have scripts for backups, security checks, health controls on software and hardware.
I have been attracted by your project because is very well described, and my expertize fits perfectly with your needs.
I am looking for a good feedback here, and for a long term collaboration. You can easily verify my resume from here or googling my name. Feel free to ask for further details.
All the best. Roberto Casalegno
Hello wharry,
I have been using custom scripts for linux server management and even for automating configuration changes during the past few years. Have also been using the same approach on desktops.
I am confident I can help you on this.
I have over 30 years of unix experience working for financial clients in the city of London. A well written script will make this easier to maintain and my experience will ensure this occurs.
