Hello and thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing this project.
Hosting on Centos 5 using PHP5 with MySQL 5.
Our project source is operating within the confines of Joomla 1.5 + VirtueMart 1.1.
The server has a CSV file deposited to a directory each night.
The CSV file contains 25 fields.
Comma delimited with contents of each field enclosed within double quotes.
One of the fields may have multiple URLs, which point to JPG photos. If no contents - then skip the photo staging process.
The JPG photos need to be pulled/copied from remote Urls to localhost and resized and sharpened (if possible) using GD. Please let me know what the server will need to provide this functionality.

Data should be inserted into the VirtueMart Product listings by matching preset categories within VirtueMart.
Due to the nature of products coming and going out of stock - the product data records within VirtueMart need to be dropped prior to inserting new records. Doing this without effecting the preset master and sub categories within VirtueMart.
VirtueMart has a feature that when a category is empty - it will not show the category. This feature should continue working after parsing is completed.

Nightly clean up -
Should delete directories of IDs that are not included in curent CSV build(to prevent build up of photos that have no product match).
The script should be able to run via a cron job - and the command line for testing purposes.
Reward to the person who can provide me structured process map on how to do this same process using retail software.
By using macro robot software with Windows and FTP software with remote MySQL management program like PHP-MySQL Wizard.
I know the later solution would require my computer and Internet connection in order to update the web site, but that is fine. I like the coder version better - but I also understand the time involved in getting this solution created.
