This code is going to pull the RSS feed from a list of blogs and store the posts to the database. Blogs are already categorized. We want to categorize the posts based on the categories which blog falls in and the keywords used in the posts. There is no complicated algorithm involved more than counting keywords in the posts. I have already written down the steps needed for the code.
The requirements:
1- At least 2 years of experience in Ruby on Rails
2- At least 6 years of programming experience
3- We need well-written classes. A good knowledge of inheritance, modules and classes in Ruby is required.
4- The knowledge of using git
5- No javascript or css is needed.
This program is mostly suited for someone who has a computer science degree and is interested in text processing and basic machine learning (no knowledge of machine learning is required).
## Deliverables
1- Database tables: sites, posts, categories, words, and join tables between them. 2- Pull in RSS feed for the sites in sites table. 3- Each site can belong to several categories. 4- Process each post. Remove harmful html elements. 5- Calculate the word frequency for each post. 6- Find the frequent words in different content category. 7- Using the frequent words in each category find out which category the posts belong to. 8- We'll define a score for affinity of each post belonging to a category. This will be a combination of what the frequent keywords are in the post and what is the category of the blog. 9- Provide rake tasks to ruby the processes above. 10- Create the controllers/views to see the result. No CSS is needed. We mainly need the database results. 11- There are a number of gems that can be used for many parts of the above.
## Platform
Ruby on rails. It's going to be run on a linux machine.
