I am taking part in a 76 mile off road bike ride from London - Brighton on Saturday 24 September 2016 I am raising money to fund research into improving treatment, diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Here's a little about me and my background. My journey to fitness began when I lost my dear mother to a unsuspected heart attack in 2009. It opened my eyes to how important health and well being really is. At this time I was around 90kg - unfit, eating junk, and had no knowledge about health and fitness whatsoever. A charity event in May 2010 came about called the Gower Bike Ride, it is a 47 mile bike ride to help raise money for the British heart foundation and help raise awareness of heart problems. I invested in a road bike and started cycling daily, and was hooked - it gave me a fire and energy to want to improve myself, as well as helping me emotionally when I was still raw and in mourning for my mum. I lost over 3 stone in a period of 6 months with no professional help or quick fix "solution". I worked very hard, and with every accomplishment my love for what I was doing and the feeling of both accomplishment and further ambition grew. Since taking part in the 2010 bike ride I know make it a yearly event and have taken part in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and have all the medals hanging up next to a photo of my mum - doing her proud instead of becoming angry and bitter is what drives me; I am a firm believer in setting goals and targets, both numerical, physically and emotionally, and I can honestly say that fitness keeps me on the path of a healthy, focused and accomplished life, where I find a lot of happiness and satisfaction. I then joined a gym in Swansea called Gym group ltd and started to fall in love with weight training, and I have studied other athletes and famous bodybuilders with my free time. I was so inspired by the standards of these athletes that I wanted to take on a new challenge with my life and now it's becoming my dream - to become a sponsored figure athlete one day! And I'm so so hungry for it, it's all I think of on a daily basis. I am hoping to compete in the fitness category @ Bodypower expo 2018, that is my next target I have started pushing towards.
