Hi, I have 500 brochures from various companies which belong to various industries and each brochure may contain a different spectrum of products. I need someone to help me classify this so that it is easily accessible to my employees. My idea is to create a simple database in Access. I was heavily using Access about 10 years ago, then my career shifted and I have not used Access for a long time, but I can communicate effectively on the design and structure of the database. What we use now is an Excel file, there are something like 20 sheet tabs in that Excel, one for each "product category" (I am sorry I cannot send it to you), and in each sheet there is just plain information on the company name, address, email, and a cell with keywords which relate to that brochure. So, when a user tries to find eg. binoculars, it will show those rows which contain that keyword, and in this way we are directed to the x company and eventually to the x brochure. The brochures are categorized, so in each sheet tab there is also a column that next to the company name, it says brochure 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and so on. This 2.1 corresponds to a specific location of the cupboard. This Excel is working ok, but I do not find it user friendly and information is not neat and tidy. One more comment: say in cupboard location 3.1 there are say 20 brochures, you have check all of them for the one you are looking for. Let me have your idea, for which I admit, you will not get paid. However, due to the importance of this database to me, I am willing to pay a fair amount. You do not need to be a highly skilled VBA user, but I need you to be professional, punctual, and reliable. Oh, and work with me on design as we progress, and also provide me with free updates (minor modifications may be needed during the first months of use) for one year. I cannot include everything here, but that is the main concept. For the person I will decide to cooperate with, payment will be done in instalments, no payment for plain communication and exchange of ideas, no payment if you produce something that I do not like, but I promise that if modifications are needed I will not walk away, I will work with you giving you directions and instructions, 10% after I approve the design and the relationships, 40% when you deliver the project to me completed, and 50% in six months after completion. We will make a proper service agreement so that I know what to expect and that you also know what to except from my side. Thank you

I am an exclusive MS Access developer having completed over 150 such projects in the past three years. I understand that each excel sheet belongs to a product category and all the brochure names related to this category are contained in this sheet. If this understanding is correct then: It would be easy to create a module which will import the data from all the sheets in an excel workbook to a table containing the fields in excel sheet plus a field called category where we can fill in the name of the sheet. Once this is done you can import all the excels and your db will be ready. The next phase will be to create a form that can filter the data by keywords and/or company name and/or product category or any other field value. You might want to export this filtered data to excel or pdf or a word file or you might just want to print it - all are possible. In case you want a sample - proof-of-concept db I can do that for you - just send me one excel sheet with the correct headers and some dummy data in it. I can work with Access 2007 or 2010. I can also work with Access 2003 but this will have some functional limitations as compared to the later versions. Look forward to hearing from you. If you need any answers please ask. Rajiv PS: if the above outline seems to be in sync with your thoughts I would say that the bid band of 750-1500 is way too much. I would put the realistic value for this work at $400-500 at max.

Hi, All terms and conditions are accepted. I could share a working demo based on your specific needs. Design Idea : --> We could go for an interface which will display 20 icons(for each category-replacing for each sheet tab<->This approach will be dynamic, means if category increases then the number of icons will also be increased ). On top of the search form we will have filter fields against each database field, so that we could find data from simple to complex query. Let me know if you are interested. Hi I reviewed and understood your project requirement of CRM Database and your Details about Existing Excel file. As you described you have a system in place (excel) now you want to upgraded/enhance for better control and working. I too agree with you on Database model in access. to better design the database you have to identify the difficulty faced in excel which will help me in Design of database forms and reports efficiently. Hello, I can do this work for you. I have developed complex databases for various information needs and using that experience I am sure I can do a good job for you. Lets have a look at the available "brochures" and see how we are organize information which can be easily accessible by users. Dear Sir, If I may suggest something: I would go for a .NET application as frontend with an Access or preferably Sqlite database as backend where multiple users are allowed. I would create different tables, but in the leading table (called 'brochures') I would store the brochures as a BLOB with a primairy key to link to other tables. I would create a search interface for the users and add/edit/delete functionality for an administrator. I you like this idea, I can create and send you a conceptional functional design. Hi, I have over 15 years in IT industry and I am based in UK. I have worked with various Access and SQL projects for law firms. I would be able to do your project. My solution is: 1. Create an Access backend database 2. Create a Active Server Pages) ASP application for the front end. ASP application needs to be hosted in your environment, either in a pc or a server if you have. IIS server can be installed free of charge in your shared pc or server, then the asp application can be run from there. Data can be accessed anywhere from your local network or internet. Thanks for the opportunity to bid on your project. I will bring over 10 years of experience developing Ms Access Databases with specific experience in ERP and CRM applications. I propose a solution that uses Ms Access 2007 as the core database. The solution could be structured to use a Master Database that stores Customer Master Details and a CataLogs Table that stores Trailer data. The Catalogs could be linked to the master table via a Customr ID. Hi, I am new to freelancers and don't know exactly how it works (that's why I have placed the lowest possible bid); but I have a good understanding of database designing. I ensure you that you will find me a reliable person to deal with. I grade myself not as an expert but with a reasonable command over MS Access and VBA. Let me first explain you what I have understood from your project description. You are maintaining 500 brochures each listing some products. You are looking for a system that will let you know about a brochure (or a company) once you click on a specific product. Since you know about working of MS Access, let my briefly explain my design. It is a rough design based on the information provided and my understanding of your description. But, of course, it will be tailored according to your requirements. The database will contain 3 Tables: Product, Company, Brochure. Table 'Product' contains: ProductID, Product Name, Specification, Category, BrochureID Table 'Company' contains: CompanyID, Name, Address, email, Phone, Fax Table 'Brochure' contains: BrochureID, CompanyID, Location I am unable to understand how you categorize the products. For example, you said that there are 20 different categories. Fine till here. But, 'binoculars' is a category or sub category? For categorization of products, another Table may be required. I will design a multi-user database with different access levels. It will be shared among different terminals making it more user friendly
