Build a Geocoding tool using open source libraries and maps

Hello, I have worked with many GIS products (QGIS, PostGIS, Python libraries, various formats) and mapping platforms (Google, Here, OSM). I have also experience with geocoding services (both forward and reverse). For this project I would write a Python application as it is well supported on both Windows and Linux. Regarding the database we could go with an OSM extract of Brazil; we could also deploy the nominatim software alongside the Python application so that it can use it internally. Connecting the Python code to the database directly is also an option. However if you have another data source in my we can look into that as well. Best wishes, iticus

Hello. This project seems to be an interesting one. I've just finished some simple geolocation project but my GIS knowledge is more than that. I don't know anything about complexity of Application A and these projecting processes so I secured more day then it's probably necessary for doing the job. Is Java the target language? Maybe it could be done easier using VBA, Python, R? It's only my question. I'll not force using my preferred language. I use Windows, but can do tests on Virtual Machine on Linux.
