Do you mean by electronic switch Solid state Relays? If you view my portfolio there is a design where a ARM uC controls 16 such switches, (among other things) Solid state relays works on AC/DC. depending on how may switches you require it is cheaper to use a Arduino Uno board.

Hi, I am keen to discuss further the details of your project. If the switches are now used in conjunction with GPIO, why do they need to have their current/voltage properly characterised? I think the most important thing if you need them to be reliable and have a long life is to choose a switch that will have a high number of cycles guaranteed by the manufacturer.
