We are putting together an event for a non-profit and want our account managers to be able to track their contacts. We are open to using either Access or Excel. The worksheet or database should allow account reps to enter contacts into a form and then set reminders for following up. We look forward to hearing back from you and reviewing your bids.

Hello, Based on the requirement description you shared, I am assuming multiple account reps will need to enter the data. In such a case, Excel will not be ideal since it is known to crash in multi-user environment. A web based (PHP+MySQL) option could also be explored but this will be slightly costly and needs more maintenance overhead. So, it is not suggested for something small that you are creating for the first time. I would therefore propose an Access based system. This system will have an Excel front end for each user to facilitate data entry and Access backend to store the data correctly. This combines best of both worlds i.e. flexibility of Excel and managing data at a backend not directly visible to end user. If you could share some details around the data you want to track, I would be able to suggest a suitable design for the same.
