This is a simple enough project. I'll develop it in Visual Studio 2010, therefore it shouldn't be a problem to update the project to 2013(if needed).
However, I'd like to get some things cleared first.
1. Is it necessary to use 3D objects created using blender or some other software?(It can be easily done by creating a rectangle for wall and sphere for a ball)
2. Are there any special shader requirements? GLSL?
Don't worry about the physics. I've done loads of projects related to physics models to know very basic physics moments with friction. We can bring in the idea of various types of energy losses.
eg. The energy lost to the wall, the energy lost to air during movement, the energy lost to the ground, the gravity. All of these can be variables.
