The main aim of this assignment, in keeping with the learning outcomes for Classical Studies, is to test your ability to understand and interpret ancient texts. Both these passages depict Cleopatra as an enemy of Rome, and us language and dramatic imagery to make the Egyptian queen - and Egypt appear formidable and threatening. The question asks you to compare and contrast the two extracts, focusing on how they describe the Egyptian queen and the threat she poses. Please note that you should refer to both extracts in your answer, although you may find yourself writing more about one extract than the other.
