Specification for Custom Code for Web Based GIS Application Stage 2

Introduction

We require a custom mapping tool that runs on both an IPad or tablet device

Current Process

We have recently had developed a custom mapping tool kit which is now integrated into our dot net based application for Emergency Services Agencies, the back end is Microsoft SQL Server 2008, we currently have developed our own integration with Google Maps to display location of resources, tasks etc on a map live from the database in different views depending upon the incident for example if a sector based incident only the resource location shows on map, if a job based incident only the job location shows.

With the new drawing tool various features icons, lines and polygons are place on the map.

We now want to add button with text like "set to current position" (or something like that), which will add marker with position from GPS. Also, if this application will be used on mobile devices (like iPad), we need to optimize it.

So for instance we can drive a fire truck along a containment line for a bushfire hit this button and place a point on the map and we can choose an icon from our db or the various points can be joined together as a line and labelled and measured as required….
