Configuring site mail in asp .NET and Google Apps

Hello,
This is a very simple project. We have a site coded in asp .NET framework 4.0 running on IIS 7.
Recently the site was migrated and we have since been unable to configure settings whereby system email (sent from the site itself) is sent out properly.
These emails are to be sent via Google apps SMTP. This should be a very simple mini-job for any experienced developer in asp .NET
