Background Our company has gone through multiple iterations for ERP systems and our first one is no longer supported, however we still need to have access to the quote and Bill of Materials inside the database. The database itself is a dBase system that uses some CDX files, possibly for some binary storage. The oldest quote in the system dates back to roughly 2002 or so and the newest one dates to roughly 2007. Requirements We will need to be able to search for and view/print orders from this system. We will provide you with sample data, all databases and files and any other information that’s needed. While these are not stringent requirements, it would be preferable to have the information available in a SQL 2008 database format. We will need to be able to search for a quote via either the quote number, the date the quote was ordered, the client, or the job site. We would then need to be able to bring up all lines from that order, and all Bill of Materials information from that order. We would need to be able to print that information out. If this can be done in a PDF, that would be ideal, but it is not a requirement. We would like to be able to search for this and be able to bring this up in a website. However the website is coded is fine, however it will need to be able to run on a Windows Server 2003 system. .NET is preferred. We will need to be provided with the SQL database, (f there is a need for more than one database, please let us know why) and any and all site files necessary to get the site to run. It would be a locally run site, not available publicly. We would need to be able to change the connection string to make sure everything is able to connect, be searched and run.

From your given requirement this is clear that you have a running ERP system and you want to modify into this website. You want to develop search functionality into your application and you want to this search results and want to show in page before print this. I am assuming that currently you are inserting data into the application. Data represent the quotes and you want an interface where we will give you the undermentioned option for searching: Quote number Quote Ordering Date The client Job site Now, do you want auto suggestion option for Client and Job Site field please specify. Is there any need of give an option of date range by which user will be able to see the quote for a specific date range? Then we will show this value in grid. There will be n option where user will be able to click on the Quote Number and it will populate the Order Lines and Billing details. Now, from there user will be able to make a pdf of this. We will use Itextsharp to generate the pdf. Don't worry Itextsharp is a open source dll. I want to see your database to make a crystal clear understanding. According to your requirement, I want to map the database but before that can you please specify you required attribute? Means which attributes you want to retrieve from the database? IS there any chance to see your current ERP programm? Now, we have already worked on ERP system, we have a great idea to handle this kind of situation. Hello, I'd like to help you on this. I have a vast experience with .net & SQL development as well as integrational aspects that I understand are required for this project. Below is my understanding of what needs to be done and what I will do: 1.) Discuss details over skype/phone 2.) Get all source (DBase) data 3.) Understand DBase database structure, copy it as a MSSQL DB and transfer all data from DBase into MSSQL 4.) Create a webpage to allow you to search for, view and export to PDF (will use Crystal Reports for this) and download the information. The webpage will or will not have login access protection/subject to your requirements, please advise. 5.) I will make the above available to you (online) to test within my own environment and once completed, will assist if necessary, with its installation in your environment. Thank you for posting a clear project description. I can imagine the effort that has already gone into upgrading your ERP. I can definitely help to preserve access to the legacy data. Some quick questions. 1. Will the system be read-only, or do you require functionality to add new quotes? 2. Roughly how many quotes are in the existing system? 3. How many dBase tables are there to migrate? My solution would contain the following. 1. Migration from dBase to SQL Server 2008R2. 2. A SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) front-end a. Provides search by quote number, quote date, client, job site, etc. b. Web based results display and navigation. SSRS looks like an ideal tool for this project because it provides web, PDF, and Excel output among other formats. SSRS is a widely used tool which has a lot of training material available online. It is also easy to configure and manage as opposed to a custom developed ASP.NET system. I am a Microsoft certified SQL Server professional and have deployed large scale, reliable solutions for clients in the manufacturing industry. My goal is to provide excellent service during and after the project to develop a long lasting relationship. Since my solution will rely heavily on existing product functionality I am able to enter a very competitive bid. The bulk of my time will be in configuring, rather than programming from scratch. Hi, instead of making it in ASP.net I would rather say you must go with VB.net as you do not want to make it run on a web but in local machines as a desktop appication. secondly, I would need the dbase details so that I can make it from scratch in MS SQL server 2008. I am very confident to start this project as this is our expertised domain of web and software development of ERP systems.
