We make small electronic kits for our customers. We need a beautiful and functional template to use when creating new kit assembly guides. Base template tool will be Adobe InDesign. Final format will be published in PDF for email and web link distribution; most customers prefer to download and print the assembly guide from a PDF format. Specific requirements for the page layout and required elements will be:
- template in US Letter size
- Template must include page designs for: Cover, Inside Cover, Assembly Steps and Reference Pages
- Assembly Steps page layout is the most important, and will include a mixture of text, photo, and stock images. Each page must include blocks for 5 numbered assembly steps each measuring about 1.5" X 8" stacked atop one another to fill the page. Each block must contain space for : 1-1/2" X 1-1/2" picture on right side, one 1-1/2" X 1-1/2" divided into four section to hold pics or images (each 3/4" X 3/4"); in the center top, a 3/8" tall block for Instruction Number and Title; in the center bottom a 3/8" tall block for Part Quantity ext and Ref Designator text; and Instruction text that will fill the 5" X 3/4" middle of the center block.
- Graphics style to be based loosely on our webstore, but we will use this project to define a new fresh corporate style
-You can start from scratch, or use a template to start with then modify it
We have uploaded a few graphics files that may be used including logos.

WE HAVE ATTACHED A CURRENT EXAMPLE OF ONE OF OUR BUILD GUIDES AND YOU CAN SEE WHY WE WANT TO IMPROVE IT.

Fluency using InDesign required.

Is Indesign mandatory or will Illustrator also be ok? Since both are vector formats and can reflow text as required.

Best to keep it simple-- the Letter size page should have five equal-size 'blocks' on it, one block will be used for each step in the assembly directions.

Of course, yes. The assembly page should be set up so that up to five separate 'blocks' can be included. Each block would be numbered with an instruction step, a photo, the instruction text, and a few other information elements described in the brief. Also, sometimes instruction block s can be longer than will fit in that size, so it would be helpful to have blocks of three sizes--- small blcosk that fit 5 to a page, medium blocks 4 to a page and large blocks, 3 toa page.
