Large scale Magento store with over 400k products

The ideal candidate for this job will be a veteran Magento deployment expert and developer with experience on stores with over 100k products. We currently run a store with over 70k product skus. These are all in one main category with only 10% having single product images. At the 70k product level performing basic pricing updates or producing a google shopping feed takes too long. This is despite the fact that we are running a large dedicated database server instance in Amazon RDS. I am an experienced developer and database admin myself and could not get this overly relational data model to scale. I need help. We now have a full list of over 400k products and need this to work in Magento without sharding the store into sub-stores. For the initial project... We will provide: - a development snapshot instance of our store with all plugins and themes in place. - a dedicated database instance with the base Magento installation, no products - CSV file with > 400k products, to be imported into a single category. - ZIP file with 7k product images. - Admin support where needed Developer will: - Import 400k products - Create scripts or use plugins (we will pay for as needed) to facilitate fast product price updates and google feed generation.
