Our linux / cpanel based server has recently gone offline and we are unable to access it. The data centre have reported that the host is up, but we can't access via http or ssh. We need someone to restore access for us and get the server back up and running. At the end of last week we had a small hacking incident on the server where someone had managed to gain access to our Magento and make some changes to the payment methods. No access was lost by us and we changed all the passwords etc and changed the data back. Now the server has become inaccessible , but we don't know if the two incidents are related or not. As such, once the server is back online, We then need a security overhaul to ensure that there's no back doors been left anywhere by any hackers etc . This is a production server so needs to be back online ASAP , ideally within the next 12 hours, 24 at most.

I run a web hosting service on a hybrid cpanel server and both have experience in cleaning and securing servers. As long as things are updated regularly, there should be no way to root your server from a Magento exploit, so I'm thinking the issue is unrelated. Of course, I'd not go into the job with any assumptions. The issue here is what does your provider offer as far as out-of-band access to the server. Some providers offer a console for OOB server access in case there's a networking issue or something serious enough happens to the OS that ssh is impossible. If your provider does not offer this, then you will have to pay their support team to get the server accessible and/or clean it up. If they do, then the job can be taken care of by a freelancer.
