For the "Paper and pencil" parts, please typeset your work using LaTeX
and submit the pdf file only. You will find a short introduction
in the folder "LaTeX Resources" on the CNu main course home page.
If your hand-written workings are neat you may also submit a scan
instead of a typeset document. The submitted format should be
"pdf". Make sure that your scan/picture captures all of the text
clearly (not upside-down, back side not visible, no cut-off margins).
You may also use any other electronic typesetting and text editing
system, but please submit only a "pdf" file.
Please submit only *one* pdf file covering all the paper-and-pencil
sections. Name this file sensibly, include your surname. Please also
include the question numbers in the text.
For the "Matlab" parts please submit only ".m" files; do not use
"publish" to generate other formats. Include plenty of explanatory
comments ("%"), which will be mostly mathematical, interpretative, and
explaining the code statements.
The m-file should produce *all* the relevant results from start to
finish when it is executed or when the function is invoked. If a
command or statement takes a long time to run (greater than 20 secs or
so), then comment it out with "%" and invite the reader to run it if
they wish; note, however, that this should not be necessary for any part
of the required code. Please indicate clearly in which order the
m-files are supposed to be read and run. Check that your m-file still
runs correctly after you close and restart Matlab.
Wherever possible write your name into the text of the m-file and onto
the paper-and-pencil document texts.
We strongly encourage your discussing the assessed material with your
fellow students, but when it comes to writing up, do it separately.
Reference other people's work (including fellow students), in
particular if you have collaborated.
