INVENTORY AND BARCODING SYSTEM

So I am at a company and we have had issues when dealing with our inventory. We want want to set up a inventory system with barcodes to track whenever material is pulled from our storage. So to give you an idea of what I mean we store various materials in silos and whenever we need a certain amount it is pulled and we are currently tracking this through pen and paper which has become a tedious task. What we would like is when one of our employees goes to silo #1 which lets say has 50,000lbs of material X and pulls 10,000lbs of material he can use a barcode scanning gun to input that information and have it update on excel(or whatever inventory system you think would work best) to now say the silo has 40,000lbs in it. So essentially we would like to be able to have a continually updating inventory where our employees do the work whenever material is used, so management doesn't have devote so much time to bookkeeping. If i have worded it funny or it might seem unclear I am more than happy to explain it better over the phone or provide you with more details over email if necessary. As an aside this is just extra we're more concerned with the inventory system but we'd also like to know if it'd be possible to create a safeguarding system from pulling the material. So whenever a new product is being made it is made up of different material which we get from different silos. However sometimes the employees pull from the wrong silos and we'd like to know if there would be some way when they scan the barcode and it doesn't match the one on the sheet it would give them some sort of error message or prevent them from submitting the quantity. Again this would just be extra, we are more concerned with the project in the top paragraph.
