I think as far as this point is concerned: "Needs to be able to skip duplicates IE it could be a full table dump file that 90% of the records already exist in the database" - we need to know if it will check all columns against that table to detect a duplicate or there is a single column to decide on the duplication? "Needs to be able to load the csv to an existing table if It is there or create a new table if it isn't" Q: how will the script know the table name of table it needs to import the data into? "Needs to be able to skip duplicates IE it could be a full table dump file that 90% of the records already exist in the database" Q: Can I consider the first column in the csv to be the unique identifier? "Need to have the ability to replace the table if the user selects the flag" Q: Understand this, but if you're planning to run it via cron at night, there will be no user input or option for user to set the flag to replace table for that given csv file. Dear Sir, PHP expert here. I understood the requirement. First I will create the import job run form. It will have a text field to enter the CSV directory, a text field to enter table name (it will create new one if that table doesn't exists), a checkbox to indicate whether it should empty the table first, and a checkbox to indicate if it should run later and if this is selected then another field will appear to enter date and time to run. When it runs it will skip the duplicates(when all fields are identical) and log all events(starts, ends, errors). After a run it will delete all CSVs under selected directory. The CSV should have a header row so that the script can create fields while creating the table or it will create fields like 'field1', 'field2' etc. All fields will be text field as the data type of a particular column of the CSV is not known.
