This website will have a few functions -
1 - Registered users will be able to paste text into a text box or select a text file from the Text Library, select a dictation speed (words per minute), then press play to hear the text read at that assigned speed (text to audio).
2 - Users will be able to type into another text box as they hear the audio.
3 - Upon completion of the audio, they will press a button - Realtime Results - and be able to see the differences in what they typed as compared to the actual text. They will also get a percentage of how correct they were - how many errors were made.
4 - They will be able to save the text if desired into the website library under one of several categories that will be created by me.
So it's a combination of a few things - voice to text - text comparison - text library. And it's member based, but only I, the admin, will be able to create members (username, email and password).
This is a solid text to speech converter example site - [url removed, login to view] our layout wouldn't be just like that - but it's a good example of some things - like the selection of voices - being able to paste in the text (we'd also have the user be able to select a text file from the library), and selecting the speed. This site has + and - speeds, but I would need exact words per minute as selections from a pulldown menu - 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 200, 210, 220, 230, 240. Multiple voices to select from would be ideal, but not a must. What IS important is the way the voice sounds. The audio should speed up and slow down based on the pauses between each word, not by speeding up or slowing down the word. We don't want squirrel voices when it's fast and drunk sounding voices when it's slow.
Once the user types in their text, they press the Realtime Results button and it shows them their errors, counts the total words - correct words - % correct. This is a good example of how it works - (this is just the process) [url removed, login to view]
Once it's complete, they get the option to save the text into the library, if it was something they pasted in, into one of the categories I've created.
