12.06.21 Amendment to a Windows app which helps children Cdifficulties with reading

I’m a doctor who works with children who have learning difficulties. I’ve developed a Windows app which helps children who have problems learning to read (Dyslexia). The current version of the app is called Read-It and it’s free. The app is very simple to use and only does two things. 1. When a child is trying to read any text on a Windows screen if they come across a word they have difficulty reading they can simply double click on it and that word will be immediately read aloud. This means they can carry on reading with no interruption to their understanding of the text. 2. The app also keeps a record of the words the child asks to be read aloud so, if they want, they can practice reading words they find difficult. A one-minute video which shows what the app does can be accessed on this link: [login to view URL] If possible, I’d need to make the following amendment to the app. The current app works on PDF files, WORD files, and WEB files. However, to give children a wider choice of books it would be sensible for it to work on, for example, Kindle books running on Windows computers. The present version will not work with files protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) and that’s what I would like to fix. However, to be clear, I do not want the app to break any copyright rules. Any user who wants the app to work on a Kindle book (or any DRM protected eBook) will first need to buy the book. I simply want the app to read aloud only single words and to keep a record of the single words. I have been advised that this would not infringe copyright.
