I have years of experience with java including JDBC. Have recently taught myself python and have been converting some of my own algorithms from java (and C++) to python (The other way to you). Although python is nice to work with I can understand why you would want to convert to java for performance. Without having seen the program or the data I am allowing 4 days to allow a little time to scope.
