I have almost fully developed an MVP for my service using [login to view URL]
The app is simple- you are shown options for what to eat the next week, you pick what you want, and the system generates a shopping list for you, and/or adds these items to your online grocery shopping cart. Then, once these items are added to your cart, the app sends you to the supermarket website to select a delivery slot, and pay.
The service is for the UK, where several supermarkets offer delivery. You just add items to your online cart, and then you choose a delivery time. (but their user interfaces are poor, and offer little to no meal planning functionality)
My problem is with adding the items to the person’s shopping cart.
In principle, what I am trying to do is:
Figure out what HTTP request is sent to the supermarket when a consumer logs in, and what HTTP requests are sent when the user adds certain things to their cart.
By indexing the HTTP requests for adding individual items to a user’s cart on the supermarket’s web app, I want my app to send specific requests to the supermarket’s web app to add certain items to the person’s cart. (so if my app wants to add apples to the user’s shopping cart, I have pre-indexed the supermarket's web app GET request for apples, and I send this to the website)
Bubble has a built in API connector where you can send GET/POST requests. I figure I can use this API connector to send the required messages to the supermarket’s website, to log the person in and add the things to their cart.
So for instance, this page at one of the supermarkets web apps (sainsburys) shows an ‘add to cart’ button for bananas. [login to view URL]
I think I just need to figure out what text is being sent to [login to view URL] when that button is pressed, then use bubble’s API connector to send that HTTP request to sainsburys to take the same action.
However, I can not get it to work. I downloaded Fiddler (debugging proxy, like Charles) to try to figure out what messages were being sent, but none of the POST/GET requests seemed to add the thing to my cart when I entered them into Postman (service that lets you send HTTP requests).
I need someone who knows about HTTP, Ajax, and javascript to advise me on what to do here. I want start with figuring out whether or not this is possible, and what exact text I need to send to the supermarket’s website to get it to add what I want to the users shopping cart.
I have no background in computer science, but I am slowly figuring things out as I build this app.
