Create CSS Sprites and CSS for my website

My website uses lots of small images. I would like these small images adding to one image and you to use CSS Sprites. html classes and CSS to then show the CSS sprite. I want to do this to reduce the number of http requests on page load. My site is [login to view URL] There are lots of images that can be loaded into a Sprite, for example, the Recommended reading images, the page footer images, etc. When you make your proposal, please 1) list the images you will add to the sprite 2) tell me about how you will use low-retina and high-retina sprites and generally give me good advice so I get confidence I know what you are doing and you are the right person to do this job.
