Need a template created that will allow me help me with account management. This project will not involve data entry-- just creating the template for me. I am wanting to create an Excel with all of the users of certain products. There are about 70 accounts with different products and user numbers. There are about 30 different products. It would be the same template for all of them. I then want to have a pivot table so I can view certain things across all of the accounts at once. Would be open to suggestions about doing this in Access but I am not as familiar with that program.

Hi! What I understood is that you would need to have templates within an excel file and one of the sheets will serve as summary (using pivot table). I am not familiar with access too so I'll be doing it in excel only.

Hi there, Your project sounds interesting and I'd love to hear more. I have over 13 years of corporate experience working in Excel creating advanced automated dashboards and reports along with using pivot tables and pivot charts. Excel 2016 has some really cool pivot table options with dynamic graphical buttons that allow you to select from the source data what you want to see in the table/chart so I'd love to take a look at your existing data (all accounts, products, user #'s, etc.) to see if I could create you the perfect template with pivot tables. I suggest you Microsoft Access which is better then Excel. We can design user friendly forms and report in Microsoft Access so as an user you don't need to be familiar with Microsoft Access to use it. I can make it so it can be use in Multi-user environment (Many user can work simultaneously from different computer) with log-in dialog, search, filter and save the filter features using Microsoft Access with Access Reports. Creating pivot table in excel as a template is possible to be conducted with sample input data. After that the workbook will be saved as a template file. This operation can be extended with using input data from other sources like flat files, CSV files or even views from some SQL DB. I can integrate Excel file with MS Access if required. I am MS Office VBA programmer so all the options are open. There are a lot of possibilities and options that should be defined before proceeding with the project. BR, Vladimir

Hi, I can do the pivot table in Excel, according to your analyzing needs. But considering your information, types of data, and the way they are linked; I would prefer access for your requirement. I am an IT lecturer. See my work experience and titles held. There are many advantages in access. For example > You can have good user interface screens to >> Enter new user detail and also edit them. >> Enter new product details, and also edit them > Can have pivot table or pivot charts the way you want. > Can have (any other reports) either users by product OR products by users. I am an accountant with 15+ years of management and statutory accounting experience. I also have vast experience in building excel accounting modules. I need the following details. a. no of users who will access the sheet simultaneously. b. what kind of transactional activity do you expect in the account. please provide as much details as possible so that we can build into this sheet. c. all you want. is a summary of activity per product. Will it be OK if we do not use a pivot but build a dashboard for you and then you can use that for getting the information you want. as such need to know what information you want.
