I have read and interpreted your project and I understand that what you want is a ModBus RTU gateway to ModBus TCP (wifi). This adapter can be done perfectly, considering your hardware requirements. The hardware will be transparent to the application that runs on the PLC and the HMI. It will not be necessary to alter any code of any of the two devices, only configurations and connection settings.
