Hello and welcome to my project! I am a conceptual artist working on a book that will be comprised of essays by freelancers. It is called 'CONTEMPORARY ACCUMULATION' and it is about ideas around labouring and work. PRODUCT DETAILS: Your name will be credited in the book and it will be published under a Creative Commons, ATTRIBUTION-NONCOMMERCIAL-NO DERIVATIVES license. This means that it will be free for people to share online and make copies of for others to read, as long as they do not alter the work. It will be an opportunity for you to get your name out there as well as (I hope) be a fun and interesting project. The word count must be a minimum of 1500 words. You can provide up to 15% quotation within your text provided that it is cited in APA style. I will be hiring 10 writers for this job. You can use your real name or write under a psuedonym. You can write in your local language if you prefer (in these cases the test will be displayed in it's original format and with an english translation). All countries and skill levels are welcome. BRIEF: Primitive accumulation is a Marxist concept that is considered to occur within communities when transitioning to the mode of capitalism. The concept, simplified is as follows: At the origin of the community, there is relatively equal opportunity for all occupants to claim land, resources, and labour to strengthen their grasp of capital. Those who choose not to, or do not pay attention to the chance to claim at this capital begin to fall behind, and it becomes harder for those individuals and their beneficiaries to amass capital. Eventually the individuals now have no access or claim to have the original capital, and have to choice but to exchange their labour-power instead. In it’s original form Marx intends this as a description for systematic dispossession of one class, and empowerment of the other, as opposed to narratives where the labouring class had caused their own dispossession. We have passed the era of primitive accumulation in a globalised world, so what can we make of contemporary accumulation? You may answer any or all of the following questions, or generate new questions based upon these ideas. There are no right or wrong answers, so please feel free to share your opinion.
