Application to migrate local IT environment to hosted platform using powershell and perhaps .NET

We offer hosting solutions to clients. When we acquire a new client for our hosted services we have to migrate them to our datacenter / Microsoft Hyper V environment. We provide a multitenant Exchange environment and use Microsoft Terminal Services (RDP) with Citrix Xenapp for the hosted desktop environment. We are currently using different tools and methods for this migration. For Email we are using Migration Wiz by Bit Titan and this is working for email but only partially. 1. We need to develop an application to identify active users in AD based on a config file entry (last logged in time) and create those users in AD on our side. 2. determine which workstation this user is using and move their profile data from their workstation to their new profile in the citrix farm which will be redirected by GPO. 3. identify all data shares and migrate them to the file server in the data center. 4. migrate all email including distro groups, mailbox permissions, etc. We want to automate the migration as much as possible. I have more details on exactly what we want migrated and what we want to be able to configure. For now we would like to configure parameters via a config file. example, if a user has not logged into their exchange mailbox in 30 (x) days do not migrate their data. We can use FTP after we establish a VPN between the customer site and the datacenter or any other method. currently we are using a combination of robocopy scripts, third party tools, etc. We literally have to recreate the entire IT infrastructure from their local network to the new environment which is located in our datacenter. Some of this will remain manual. 1. installation of the virtual servers in our data center in Hyper v 2. installation of applications such as sql, quickbooks, etc on the back end server and the applications on the front end or terminal servers. The portion that we would like to automate is the user creation, logging the users in to create their profiles, moving their profile data, moving all file server data (configurable in a config file) who belongs to which groups, apply security properly to the file structure, if profiles are not redirected, get the profile data off of the workstations and put it in the new profile location. I will put together a more technical write up of this describing in more detail exactly what we would like to accomplish. Phase 2 of this project will be to implement a web interface an offer it as a service for others to use when migrating from a local network to any cloud services environment. Bit Titan is doing a good job with migration wiz, but it does not take into account the details which can be captured via powershell such as distro group members, permissions, etc. Also this platform only migrates email data. We need a comprehensive solution to move the entire data structure with the exception of applications. We understand we will need to manually install things like SQL server and import the databases for specific applications such as ERP, CRM, etc. Im not going to put a price on the project because i really do not know what amount of time this will take. It may be something that is too expensive to do but also may be in our budget. I look forward to getting this started. Thanks! john
