Build an advanced Sphere on HTML5 Canvas

Greetings, I am looking for someone to build part of the front end UI for a portal. It is small because it is only the sphere that I need built. It is such a rare design I am having difficulty finding code for it. I am a front end designer and need help reaching my objective for a customer. It has to do with making a sphere that rotates and has cubes or tiles to form the outside of the 3D HTML5 sphere. I want to build a UI that is a three dimensional sphere. It is able to rotate and scroll in and out. I have posted a sphere here that is simpler than I want put rotates and scrolls in and out like I want: [login to view URL] Here is what I want to do with this sphere. I want to make it more interactive. Specifically, I want to make cubes or square tiles form the outside of the sphere, like these images: [login to view URL] [login to view URL] So here is my overall vision. Ideally, I would have a sphere that is made of cubes/tiles and you can rollover those cubes. Each cube has an icon of an application. I have those images. Once one of the cubes is rolled over it, expands out much larger so you can see the description of the application. I can then click on the cube to go to a page for that application. I know this kind of UI design is probably really difficult and probably not done often or at all. It’s just the 3D sphere part. And we can’t use Flash unfortunately. But we can use jQuery, JavaScript, and HTML5. The sphere needs to be responsive resizing for screen size. I figured since you can make elaborate video games in HTML5, it should be able to handle this in HTML5. Ideally, the sphere would work just like this sphere attached here [login to view URL] Instead of having an image wrapped around it of the earth, it would have single tiles of applications that could be interacted with.
