Canada History Project 3rd Phase - Transcriptions of Letters

Canada History Project - This multi phase project to transcribe the handwritten World War Two letters of a Canadian soldier and his wife is seeking additional skilled transcriber/typists. This initial job is for 200 pages of handwritten letters divided into batches. The larger and continuing project involves more than 10,000 pages of handwritten letters and transcribers who demonstrate advanced skills will be asked to continue. This project requires transcriptions with a high level of "literal" accuracy without corrections of original spelling or grammar. Knowledge of Canada, U.K. and European proper names and place names will be helpful in cases where the source handwriting may be questionable. Excellent ability in reading English handwriting is essential. Accepted bidders will receive photocopies in batches of approximately 40 to 60 pages at a time. The material will be provided through the [login to view URL] service as Microsoft XPS files. Transcribers will type their transcriptions in MSWord .docx or .doc format as per an exacting Style and Formatting Guide. This project, not being time sensitive and expected to progress over several months, is willing to accept a longer period for the work to be performed at lower cost. Bids in excess of $0.15 per handwritten page will not be considered. Accepted bidders will be required to sign a "release" statement for their work. Please read the attached Style Sheet before submitting bids. All bidders must submit a transcribed sample of the attached three page photocopy of a letter in the correct format to be considered. Please give bids with both cost and time requirements along with your sample transcription. You do not need to sign the release form until after your bid has been accepted. Transcribers who fulfill our standards of quality can expect to be invited to participate in future phases of this transcription project.
