I need a command-line utility, running on windows 95-2003 (or, at least, 2000/XP/2003) and able to :
1- list running processes showing PID and executable name
2- close (WM_CLOSE) a process :
I must be able to specify the process, by PID, executable name or window name (must accept wildcards before and/or after) and the timeout. The utility must return success or failure by exit value.
3- same as 2 but kills the process.
4- same as 2 and 3 but tries to close, waits for maximum timeout time and then kills the process if close didn't succeed.
5- launches an application without waiting for it to finish. Exemple :
be able to run outlook by specifying the executable name and path and exits ok if it was launched ok.
here attached are working examples of freeware (and one open-source : [login to view URL]) utilities that does more or less what I ask :
- [login to view URL] does list the process and closes then kills them (see /? for help)
- [login to view URL] closes a window name with wildcard at the end
- [login to view URL] launches (-w option) an application without waiting for it to finish.
I prefer the utility to be written in C and I need the source code and compiled version.
