Data Extraction/Organization/Calculation from Text Files

I have done this type of request before, but it was made for SINGLE files, manual process...I need something bigger and better now.

Work requested is for tracking and historical records of network uplinks for hundreds of switches and routers. I will provide selected

Coder with;

1 Main Windows File Directory titled -

* Active Ports - All Areas

3 Windows File Sub Directories titled -

*Mall

*Medical

*Tribes

Inside EACH of these 3 Sub Directories will be text (.txt) files, dozens and dozens, if not hundreds of text files in each.

?

Samples are provided with this bid request of 10 files within the directories listed above.

I need a coder to fully automate the process of the following;

- going thru EACH directory and sub directory and text file

(FYI: 2 have similar outputs, 1 is different output due to type of device, but similar data is needed from all)

- collecting/extracting data from each file line by line

- organize data for spreadsheet use, pulling out the fields of;

1. extract the text files name and use for/within final report to relate to and identify those results below

2. actual device names in the file (may have to truncate/delete part of name)

3. device IP address listed in text file with (ip address) around them

4. auto count, then list how EXACTLY many lines say (connected) for each device specifically

5. automatically export this data into a file for MS Excel import the use for reporting (so we can filter, organize, etc.)

I understand this may be difficult to bid on, questions are welcomed and encouraged.

Please allow time for responses, as I work 12-15hrs a day and respond early AM or late PM hours when possible!

Thanks.

## Deliverables

Here are some samples from those files attached and what I am ultimately seeking to extract:

1.

? [url removed, login to view] ([url removed, login to view])

? -----------------------------------------

? sh int | inc is up

? Vlan1 is up, line protocol is up

? Vlan514 is up, line protocol is down

? Vlan1000 is up, line protocol is up

? FastEthernet1/0/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

? FastEthernet1/0/46 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

? FastEthernet1/0/47 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

? GigabitEthernet1/0/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

? GigabitEthernet1/0/2 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

1a

From the above I would need

1. File Name = Mall Switches - Active Ports - 08192008

2. An EXACT Count of how many devices are in the file

Devices will be atop each? such as [url removed, login to view] above.

3. Truncate the device name

from= [url removed, login to view]

to= s-mall-idf2

4. IP Address = [url removed, login to view]

5. An EXACT Count of how many FastEthernet ports are (connected)

in above, that would be 3 - which are

? FastEthernet1/0/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

? FastEthernet1/0/46 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

? FastEthernet1/0/47 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

GigabitEthernet is NOT NEEDED!

6. And possible 2-3 other pieces of info

This is just a summary, each file contains dozens or hundreds of devices with data like above....

Again, 1 directory will have a different data output, when you review the attached files, is the directory titled Medical - these are different types of switches, so output is different.

To All, I will be giving final consideration soon to those who REVIEW NEWLY UPLOADED ZIP FILE and respond accordingly. I have re-attached a new zip file, containing 3 other files, 2 SAMPLE data and 1 SAMPLE report of what I am trying to achieve. Ultimately, ANY final readable format similar containing the same data will be considered. Its a SAMPLE, deliverables do not need to be exact, but very similar because its the data I need for reporting. Expect to be moving forward this weekend and hopefully selecting a coder/programmer beginning next week to start this project. Thank you for your time and efforts and I look forward to working with the selected candidate next week. Good luck and best wishes!!!
